During a public address in Krishnanagar, West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi leveled accusations against the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, alleging the creation of counterfeit job cards under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). He asserted that various government schemes, including MGNREGA, have been tainted by corruption during the tenure of the Trinamool Congress.
Setting an ambitious target, Modi aimed for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to secure victory in all 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal in the upcoming elections. He accused the Trinamool Congress of corruption and misappropriation of funds intended for MGNREGA, a claim refuted by a state minister from the TMC who maintained that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was ensuring the equitable distribution of funds to those in need.

Modi emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment, particularly in regions like Sandeshkhali, where women led protests against alleged land encroachments and instances of sexual misconduct. Promising free ration for the next five years should the BJP form the central government, Modi criticized the TMC for prioritizing corruption and nepotism over developmental initiatives.
He also condemned the TMC for obstructing central government projects in West Bengal and hindering the effective implementation of programs such as “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” in the state. Highlighting the inauguration of a new AIIMS in Kalyani, Modi attributed it to the efforts of his government, dubbing it “Modi ki Guarantee.”
