Breaking: Revolutionary Scheme to Feed Millions in Jammu and Kashmir Unveiled! Find Out How
In Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has initiated a new program named the ‘Prime Minister’s Food Supplementation for Priority Households Scheme’. This program aims to assist economically disadvantaged families in accessing an adequate supply of affordable food.
Presently, some households benefit from the Antyodaya Anna Yojana, receiving 35 kg of food grains, while others receive 5 kg of food grains per person free of cost.
The new scheme will extend its benefits to approximately 14.32 lakh families in Jammu and Kashmir. It will provide additional food at subsidized rates, ensuring that no household receives more than 35 kg.
Previously suspended due to a governmental decision, the scheme has been reintroduced with adjusted pricing.
The primary objective is to support financially struggling families in affording essential food items and maintaining good health. Families with one member will receive an extra 5 kg, while those with 2-5 members will receive an additional 10 kg per month.
The rice will be procured by the J&K Government at a reduced cost and distributed to families at a discounted rate, thus easing their financial burden.
The implementation of this scheme is estimated to require a budget of around 180 crore rupees annually. There are plans to include wheat in the scheme in the future.
Overall, the scheme aims to ensure that economically disadvantaged families in Jammu and Kashmir have access to an adequate and affordable food supply.
