Who Needs Insurance?
- Mandatory health insurance is a requirement for visitors seeking a prior entry visa.
- Those eligible for a visa on arrival are exempt for the initial 30 days but must procure insurance for extended stays.
- Transit passengers and temporary entry travelers are exempt from this requirement.
How to Obtain Insurance?
- Obtain insurance from registered national or approved international insurance providers.
- Access the Ministry of Interior’s website or utilize the “Metrash” App to complete the insurance application.
Health Insurance Premium
- The mandatory insurance premium is set at QAR 50 per month.
- Additional coverage (top-ups) can be acquired at an additional premium.
- Hayya card holders are obligated to obtain insurance for the remaining period of their card validity.
Coverage Highlights
- Coverage includes emergency medical treatment up to QAR 150,000 within Qatar.
- Emergency medical assistance such as ambulance transportation and medical evacuation is provided.
- COVID-19 coverage encompasses treatment costs up to QAR 50,000 and quarantine expenses.
- Repatriation expenses of up to QAR 10,000 in case of death are covered.
- No copayments or deductibles are required for covered services.
International Health Insurance Policies
- International insurance policies from MOPH-approved companies are accepted, provided they meet specified criteria.
- Criteria include comprehensive coverage throughout the entire stay, including emergencies, accidents, and COVID-19, with predetermined limits.
