Audiophiles have been eagerly expecting Spotify’s highly anticipated Hi-Fi function since its initial introduction in 2021. Recent rumors suggest that this much-anticipated item may finally be nearing implementation, which might usher in a new era for music streaming.
In September 2021, Spotify Hi-Fi debuted with the promise of delivering higher-quality audio. It attempted to increase the quality of listening by providing streaming at 1411kbps, which is a notable improvement above the 320kbps bandwidth that is currently available.
According to recent discoveries, which have been credited to a Reddit user going by the handle OhltsTom, Spotify Hi-Fi may eventually be renamed as “Enhanced Listening.”
OhltsTom has published screenshots that offer an insight into the inner workings of this new service. It looks like customers will soon be able to experience high-quality offline listening, with streaming speeds up to 2117kbps. Nevertheless, at 15.9MB per minute, such high-quality streaming can come at a price.
Furthermore, Spotify looks ready to provide even higher-quality music; some tracks in the FLAC format now have 24-bit lossless alternatives. Interestingly, Spotify Connect allows users to enjoy this improved streaming experience on their own Wi-Fi networks in addition to wired connections.
Despite these seductive looks, the precise release date of Spotify Hi-Fi is yet unknown. A lot of rumors have been going around, and some of them say it might debut during the HIGH END Munich 2024 event. The excitement surrounding what seems to be a significant milestone for music listeners worldwide is only heightened by this ambiguity.
